With his skilled precision and remarkable musical IQ, SteffNasty has diligently garnered the admiration of the music industry’s finest. Raised in the Yonkers & Harlem, Steff took a liking to singing initially and that lead to a strong start as a writer and musical arranger. His keen way with words lead him to a 3rd place finish in a BMG-sponsored songwriting contest. He used the prize of a scholarship to study audio engineering at Five Towns College. In 1997, his innate abilities won him enough attention to open for gospel legend Hezekiah Walker at the Madison Square Garden.
After a failed management situation, Steff and his partner Buggyeye formed BeatBanggahz Entertainment. The multiple-threat duo, under the mentorship of impresarios like Troy Taylor and Swizz Beatz, have delivered hits for Gordon Chambers, Kenny Lattimore, Raekwon, J. Holiday, Black Buddafly, and inclusion on the Gran Turismo 3 soundtrack. The vast majority know Steff and Buggyeye for the bedroom classic “In The Middle” from R&B crooner Trey Songz’s debut album. “I was actually inspired to compose that song after hearing a song by Gordon Chambers. His record “Can I Touch You There” was awesome and it moved me to create the music for what turned into “In The Middle.” Steff explains.
Music is ever-evolving and SteffNasty is doing himself great justice in staying relevant and maintaining an authentic sound that people here and abroad can appreciate for years to come. His efforts were generously rewarded after winning Producer of the Year at the 2009 Underground Music Awards in New York City. Beating out the likes of 9th Wonder and Hi-Tek, SteffNasty is a “David” among Goliaths. “It’s a new day and there are other factors that are important and relevant to marketing yourself as a successful brand other than just placements. We are an excellent example of that.”
Currently, SteffNasty is implementing a branding blueprint with the success of his “A Day in the Life of a Music Producer” video blogs. With that, he actively gives audiences a front row seat to the raw, real, and educational process of creating great music. He’s also in the studio working with Grammy-award winning songwriter Gordon Chambers on his 3rd album and serves as a community mentor to the upcoming musical generation. Artist development is an addendum to the BeatBanggahz Entertainment brand that SteffNasty is very hands-on with. “I have a great responsibility in making music. I’m focused on making great songs that will touch people and evoke some type of emotion rather then making a beat that will only receive temporary success and attention.”
“We have great supporters and a lot of God’s Favor on us,” he reflects. SteffNasty and his partner are well on their way to touching the stratosphere with their collective and innovative edge.
My dream job is to be the best SteffNasty that I can be and getting paid lots of coin for every second of my awesome existence. From Producing and Writing records, Developing Talent, to Mentoring and Teaching my craft to young people and Lending my unique personality and perspective to public forums across the world.
My celebrity crushes are actresses Dania Ramirez (Entourage), Scarlett Johansson (Iron man 2), and singer/songwriter Nikki Jean. They are all very beautiful and talented performers.
The song that best describes me would have to be “Bring Me Down” by Kanye West featuring Brandy.
If I could have dinner with anyone it would be Adam Richman from the popular cable television show “Man vs. Food”. He’s always traveling somewhere interesting, meeting great people and enjoying amazing food, as well as taking on absurd eating contests. I am a self-proclaimed foodie and I think he would know the best places to eat.
One thing I could probably do better than you is being able to listen to a song and know everything wrong or right about it. My extensive background as an award winning record producer and songwriter has given me an extremely keen ear.
The movies I watch the most are probably starring Eddie Murphy (circa 1980’s and early 90s Coming to America, Trading Places, Boomerang) etc. and Movies directed or Produced by Judd Apatow, Kevin Smith or Ben Stiller (Wedding Crashers, 40 year old virgin, The Other Guys) etc.
My Guilty Pleasure Television show is Love & Hip-Hop….sorry, I can’t justify that one. (shrugs)
My Guilty Pleasure artists are Gucci Mane, Lil B and Camron. Unapologetic ignorance and self-destruction is amusing (in small doses)
My Favorite places to eat after going to clubs are Crown Diner (Bronx) and iHop.
