(Via VerySmartBrothas.com) A year in a half or so ago, I wrote an entry talking about our plans to launch Very Smart Singles — a service created to help the thousands of single members of VSB nation connect with each other, date, (hopefully) copulate, and (maybe) spawn a race of big-headed VSB babies.

Unfortunately — well, fortunately for us, but unfortunately for Very Smart Singles — “Your Degrees Won’t Keep You Warm At Night” was released a month later, and that pretty much took up all of our attention and energy.

Anyway, we have quite a few things planned for the next couple of months, and the return — and follow through — of Very Smart Singles is one of them.

As I wake up, take a sip of Kambucha tea and begin my day, I get a call and the first thing that plays is Wale’s “Ambitious Girl”. Yes its my motivating track because even I have those days where I am wondering how I am going make it through and that one song has seem to be pushing me lately. I am always looking for motivation. So why not give some respect to a fast rising star, Wale. Some are lyrics, some aren’t. Either way its motivation. So in no particular order…

1) Never met a hater who was successful in life, have you?

3) Ambition is priceless, it’s something that’s in your veins, and I put that on my name.

10) And lastly, for everybody who doubted I can’t live without you, please continue to inspire the fire. That is my re-dedication to greatness y’all.

The Shooting of Trayvon Martin (Debate)

The killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin has sparked a national debate on race.

“The shooting of Trayvon Martin took place on February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida. Trayvon Martin was an African American teenager who was shot and killed by 28-year-old George Zimmerman, a man of mixed ethnicity (Latino and white American). Martin, who was unarmed, had been walking to the home of his father’s girlfriend from a convenience store when Zimmerman, a community watch captain, followed him after calling the Sanford Police Department, saying he witnessed what he described as suspicious behavior. Soon afterward, he fatally shot Martin. Zimmerman described the shooting to the police who arrived on the scene as self-defense”

Because in that dead end there is a wall to be climbed. Climb that wall.

Because you never felt you could make daddy A.K.A. that poor specimen of a man happy, you cater to charlie’s mini-man and wait for explosions similiar to a shook up sprite can.

Don’t shake that can unless its contents are right…not just the packaging.

You dont need to wonder how he was and who he was because his lack of parental artistry beared you the gift of a blank canvas.

Use your brush wisely.

Looking for acceptance in a dark man who holds his composure until attacked.

He aint gonna give you security. Slomins aint on your side or his.

Let get this straight, it takes more than him saying I’ll give you a birthday suit massage to truly embody the sincerity of saying “I got your back”.
