Will Smith Lays The Smack Down On Reporter

Hollywood star Will Smith is heating up the Internet for putting a male reporter in his place after trying to sneak a kiss on his lips at a Men In Black 3 premiere this week.

Details and footage of what exactly went down landed online Friday (May 18) afternoon.

Will Smith just slapped a Ukrainian reporter across the face at the Moscow premiere of “Men in Black 3″ — and it was all caught on tape. The Ukrainian reporter tries to kiss Will on the lips on the red carpet and the actor angrily pushes him away and then backhands him across the face. You can clearly see that Will is incredibly pissed that the guy showed overt affection toward him. After Will slaps the guy, Will says, “He’s lucky I didn’t sucker punch him.” (TMZ)

As the news continues to stream in, it turns out the kiss may have been a celebrity gag.

We’re told the dude who kissed Will is a television reporter who often kisses celebrities — it’s his schtick. For the record, Will just came out in support of gay marriage. A source on scene tells TMZ, the reporter’s mouth brushed up against Will’s and that’s why the actor reacted so violently. Despite the incident, Will stayed positive … and happily continued to sign autographs for fans and do red carpet interviews. (TMZ)

The married movie star recently dished out his thoughts on same-sex marriage.

Interestingly, Smith (who played an openly gay character in the 1993 film Six “Degrees of Separation”) came out in support of same-sex marriage earlier this week, on the heels of President Barack Obama’s acceptance of the institution. Yahoo! News shares that Smith told reporters in Berlin on Monday that “If anybody can find someone to love them and to help them through this difficult thing that we call life, I support that in any shape or form.” (RapFix)

Smith is currently traveling worldwide and promoting his upcoming Men In Black 3 sci-fi flick.

Will Smith said life has never been better as he wowed fans at the premiere of Men In Black 3 on Wednesday. The Hollywood actor signed autographs and posed for pictures at the event in Leicester Square. Smith, wearing a Tom Ford suit, said the film was the “most unique” he had ever been in. He said: “There’s something about the idea that is a little twisted and little off, you never say ‘oh yeah that movie is just like Men In Black, there’s really nothing that’s just like Men In Black.” (ITN)

Loiter Squad Keeps Swimming

Odd Future fans can get their DVRs primed up once again as the animated hip-hop crew’s popular Loiter Squad Adult Swim television series is set to come back next season.

Who would have ever guessed that television audiences enjoy watching young men play pranks on people? So weird. Anyway, Adult Swim has announced that the Odd Future live-action prank/sketch show “Loiter Squad” has been renewed for a second season. No premiere date for the second season has been announced yet. (Pitchfork)

In April, Grammy-winning singer T-Pain publicly co-signed “Loiter Squad.”

“@oddfuckingtaco #loitersqaud is the sh*t homie. Congrats on the show my n*gga. Tell @fucktyler I hate frogs.,” he tweeted April 7th.

“@oddfuckingtaco even if that was a sarcastic tweet hahahahaaaa. I am pretty cool tho lol”

“@fucktyler dude I didn’t even think this was really your page. What the fuck is that twitcon dude hahahahaaaa” (T-Pain’s Twitter)

The crew’s weekly 15-minute show has aired every Sunday promptly before midnight.

Surprisingly, a band with a name like Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All isn’t opposed to being a little bit absurd from time to time. The alternative hip-hop group stars on Loiter Squad, a live action series on Cartoon Network’s late night Adult Swim. The 15 minute program features the band members, led by rapper/producer Tyler the Creator, delivering comedy sketches and candid camera pranks in Los Angeles. (Hollywood)

Along with television, the hip-hop crew has kept busy with music-making.

The crew has new music on the horizon as well, with Tyler, the Creator’s “Wolf” expected in May, though a release date has yet to be announced. In a recent New York Times feature, returning member Earl Sweatshirt — back in the fold after time away at a boys’ school in Samoa — told the newspaper he had three potential projects in the works, including a solo album and a collaboration with Tyler. The group’s most recent release was “The OF Tape Vol. 2,” which arrived in March. (Billboard)

Lil Kim Talks Possible Colabo With Nicki Minaj

Today, Brooklyn rap veteran Lil Kim revealed past plans to possibly join Birdman’s Cash Money Records team and said her current war of words toward Nicki Minaj was avoidable.

Kim believes a Cash Money deal and collaboration could have cemented Minaj as a partner in rhymes.

According to the Queen Bee, she was on pace to sign with Cash Money, the same label that made Nicki a star. “Me and Slim were friends for four years, and we decided that we were going to go into business together,” Kim said of her plans with CM co-CEO Ronald “Slim” Williams. “I was over there with Cash Money — I was getting ready to be partners with them.” The deal didn’t go through, but Kim did record “Grinding Makin’ Money,” a track that included both Birdman and Minaj. The Notorious K.I.M. claims that the track was slated for Birdman’s 2009 album Priceless but didn’t make the final cut. “They put the record out. I guess they didn’t like the response — they saw the response and they pulled the record off, pulled it back, never put it on his album, nothing,” Kim said. (MTV)

Tensions boiled late last year when Minaj dropped her alleged “Stupid H*e” subliminal directed toward the Queen Bee.

Nicki Minaj teams up with famed director Hype Williams in the colorful video for “Stupid Hoe,” a single from her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, now due April 3. The animated Barbie rocks a closetful of wild and wacky looks in the explicit clip, which premiered online. “Can’t premiere on a network b/c its important that my art is not tampered with, or compromised prior to you viewing it for the 1st time,” explained Nicki. Unleash the beast. (Rap-Up)

Following the song’s December release, speculation grew on who Minaj targeted.

Two weeks after dropping “Roman in Moscow,” the first single off “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” (Feb. 14), Nicki Minaj’s alter ego Roman Zolanski returns to fires shots on her newest song, ” Stupid Hoe.” “B*tch talkin’ she the queen when she looking like lab rat,” Minaj raps in the beginning of “Stupid Hoe.” Is Minaj talking about Lil Kim, also known as the Queen Bee? The shots carry throughout the song, as Minaj transitions from rhyming to singing and back again, “Stupid h*e is my enemy/ Stupid h*e is so wack/ Stupid h*e should have be-friended/ Then she could have probably came back.” Sonically, the new track sounds quite similar to “I Get Crazy,” a cut off Minaj’s last mixtape, “Beam Me Up Scotty.” (The Juice)

Months later, Kim downplayed the platinum-selling rapper’s alleged diss track.

“I didn’t even know, who is that, who?,” Kim playfully said when asked for her opinion on Minaj’s Grammy Awards performance. “[How do I feel about 'Stupid H*e?] I’m pretty sure I feel the same way everybody else feels right about now. [laughs] You know. If you have to make a song called ‘Stupid H*e,’ you must be a stupid h*e.” (“Watch What Happens Live”)

Teyana Taylor: The First Lady Of G.O.O.D.

Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West has officially expanded his artist roster by adding the likes of R&B singer Teyana Taylor to a team which also consists of Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Q-Tip and more. Taylor’s G.O.O.D. Music induction became public knowledge Monday (May 14) evening.

Well, this was a long time coming. Kanye West has been closely affiliated with Harlem rapper/singer Teyana Taylor for some time now, but this week it was confirmed that Taylor has officially been signed to ‘Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music label. The 21-year-old singer-songwriter and actress, who worked with West on his fifth album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, will reveal details about her first G.O.O.D. Music LP and forthcoming singles in the next few weeks. In April she debuted a new mixtape, The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor, which pays tribute to Lauryn Hill and her other early influences, including Mary J. Blige and Janet Jackson. (MTV)

The 21 year-old music newcomer also hopped on Twitter to confirm the hype.

“First Lady Of That G.O.O.D Sh*t! http://instagr.am/p/KoGOneIsNX/ ,” she tweeted May 14th.

“G.O.O.D things do come to those who ignore those who doubt. http://instagr.am/p/KoI1BeosO0/ ” (Teyana Taylor’s Twitter)

Over the past couple years, Taylor has continued to build a name both on-screen and in the music industry.

Her recent onscreen endeavors include roles in 2010′s “Stomp the Yard 2″ and Tyler Perry‘s 2011 film “Madea’s Big Happy Family.” Last summer, the 21-year-old also grabbed attention with her remix of Drake’s hit single “Marvin’s Room.” “Her Room” found Taylor sampling lyrics from Lauryn Hill’s “X Factor,” as she came to terms with a cheating ex. (RapFix)

Over the weekend, Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz denied speculation suggesting he inked a G.O.O.D. Music deal.

“He just said I’m good, like I’m ill. But we was talking and I think I was jeopardizing my brand sometimes by doing the homeboy special,” Chainz said, referring to his knack for hooking artists up with guest features. “So I think he felt like we should just put that out there that we ain’t doing no more of that — I would have done almost anything a couple months ago, and it was all about really reaching out because I still will, I’m still grounded, but it made sense for me to slow down a little bit being that I got an album coming out August 14th. I’m still working on that — I’m just trying to focus on 2 Chainz a little more.” (Bootleg Kev)

Lloyd Banks To Leave G-Unit

G-Unit leader 50 Cent recently discussed the status of his squad and, specifically, whether or not the “Punchline King” Lloyd Banks is still riding shotgun.

Talking to animated Unit associate Young Jack Thriller, Fif said things are still in tact with Banks.

“Nah, he’s not on the [upcoming Gangsta Grillz: The Lost Tape] tape,” Fif said when asked about Banks’ perceived estranged relationship with the Unit as of late. “I mean, he’s been doing the shows so they’ve been seeing him. You just don’t pay to go see his shows or hang out with him.” (This Is 50)

Banks is currently putting together his upcoming V6 mixtape.

“Still a few things I have to do with the tape,it’s not droppin monday..but soon after!,” Banks tweeted April 28th.

“I just want it to be delivered the right way”

“Trust me it’s worth the wait! You won’t be disappointed..” (Lloyd Banks’ Twitter)

Earlier this month, 50 opened up on Interscope Records dropping G-Unit.

“The reason why G-Unit was dropped, so the general public understands: the reason G-Unit was dropped from Interscope Records was because the deal I gave them was so well-put-together for them that they were to receive $750,000 in advance on the next albums – each one of the artists. So they gotta remove that in this climate of sales. They just can’t afford it.” (“Bootleg Kev”)

He also took on the question of whether or not a 50/Game reunion will ever take place.

“Nobody asks me [about him],” Fif added, referencing Game. “I don’t know. Let me see if this is just one of my character defects or not. When you said that [Documentary] record was crazy, you’re making reference to things I wrote for that record. Meaning, the first three singles off of that were things that I wrote. So now, when you look at that, and you look at all the disrespect that was displayed over the years, ask yourself, ‘Would you be inherently uncomfortable with the concept of associating yourself again with someone where — you don’t even know where it came from.’ … If I did something wrong, I can accept it, then I created motivation for it. But if I didn’t do anything at all and it turns into what that turned into, I’ll just stay away from it.” (“Bootleg Kev”)

Jennifer Hudson’s Brother-In-Law Found Guilty

R&B singer Jennifer Hudson‘s estranged brother-in-law has been found guilty of murdering three family members, including her mother, nearly four years ago.

Although the slayings took place back in 2008, 31 year-old William Balfour was not convicted until Friday (May 11).

An Illinois jury on Friday found the estranged brother-in-law of Grammy- and Oscar-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson guilty of murdering three members of her family in 2008. William Balfour, 31, was found guilty of breaking into the Hudson family home and fatally shooting Hudson’s mother Darnell Donerson, 57, her brother Jason Hudson, 29, and her 7-year-old nephew Julian King. He faces the possibility of life in prison without parole. (Reuters)

Hudson was also in attendance when Balfour’s fate was read.

Hudson, who expressed her undisguised disdain for William Balfour when she took the witness stand and who endured weeks of excruciating testimony about the October 2008 killings, was visibly overcome with emotion as the verdict was read. Hudson’s eyes filled with tears and she shook her head and bit her lip. Afterward, she looked over at her sister, Julia Hudson, and smiled. (MSNBC)

Looking beyond the guilty verdict, Balfour’s defense will likely appeal the ruling.

Public defender Amy Thompson said Friday there was “questionable use of evidence” by the Chicago Police Department. And she says the defense didn’t have adequate time to prepare their case. (Chicago Tribune)

The Hudson family murders all took place in October 2008.

Balfour was accused of shooting Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, in the living room of the Hudson family home on Chicago’s South Side on Oct. 24, 2008, then shooting her brother, Jason Hudson, 29, in the head as he lay in bed. Balfour then allegedly abducted Julia Hudson’s son, Julian King, and shot him in a sport utility vehicle that was found abandoned after a three-day search. (Los Angeles Times)

Lil Boosie Found Not Guilty

Incarcerated rapper Lil Boosie can finally breathe a huge sigh of relief as he has been found not guilty of a murder dating back nearly three years.

Details of the not guilty verdict became public knowledge this afternoon.

Baton Rouge rapper Lil Boosie, whose real name is Torence Hatch, has been found not guilty of murder. The jury deliberated for about an hour. Supporters cheered outside the 19th Judicial Courthouse in Baton Rouge once the verdict was announced. Hatch and his defense team hugged and began crying once the verdict was read. (KSLA News)

Shortly after the announcement, Boosie’s mother gave her excited reaction.

Supporters cheered outside the 19th Judicial Courthouse in Baton Rouge once the verdict was announced. Hatch and his defense team hugged and began crying once the verdict was read. “All I can do is give the glory to God because I knew he was never guilty,” said Connie Hatch, the rapper’s mother. “He’s crying and he knew from the beginning he was never guilty.” “This man has been innocent,” said defense attorney Jason Williams. “He’s been innocent this whole time. Fans across the whole world have been praying for this. And, I thank God that justice was swift. I thank God that the truth came out.” (WAFB News)

During the trial, prosecutors played Boosie’s music to try and connect him to a 2009 murder.

The jury in Baton Rouge rapper Torence “Lil Boosie” Hatch’s first-degree murder trial listened intently Wednesday to violence- and expletive-laden lyrics that prosecutors say Hatch recorded in his home just before and immediately after Terry Boyd was shot to death in 2009. Hatch’s attorneys noted after court that Boyd’s name is not mentioned in the lyrics and said the music has nothing to do with the crime. Hatch, 29, is accused of paying Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding to kill Boyd, who was fatally shot inside a Vermillion Drive home at 12:42 a.m. on Oct. 21, 2009. (The Advocate)

Despite the tactic, Boosie’s music ultimately did not get him convicted.

A defense attorney for the rapper known as “Lil Boosie,” who is on trial for a murder charge, says violent imagery and lyrics in music are not evidence of a crime. During closing arguments Friday, defense attorney Jason Williams said the prosecution of the rapper, whose real name is Torence Hatch, was influenced by the nature of his music. Williams says the violent imagery is part of a branding effort meant to sell records. (WAFB News)

Michael K. Williams To Be ODB In Biopic

After recent talks of former “The Wire” star Michael K. Williams getting recruited to bring the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard‘s life story to the big screen surfaced this spring, the buzzing actor has finally opened up on the role.

Along with meeting the late ODB’s family, Williams admits how much attention to detail he has placed on the biopic.

“I am doing a lot of research on Russell,” Williams said referring to ODB by his government name. “I had the pleasure of meeting his beautiful mother, Ms. Cherry. We sat down for, like, three hours, and she told me the most amazing stuff about her son and a lot of things that the public didn’t know. I’ve been talking to people who know him well … people who knew him when the cameras weren’t rolling. I’ve got a lot of insight into who he was as a human being and as a man and, dare I say it, scholar. The dude was quite smart. You have to be able to recite mathematics and be 5 percent of god body — you can’t play with that. You have to know what you’re talking about. It’s a lot of studying, a lot of knowledge.” (MTV)

News of Williams landing the movie role hit the Internet in mid-March.

EW has learned exclusively that Williams, 45, will star in an upcoming film about the legendary Wu-Tang Clan rapper and all-around troubled soul Russell Jones, a.k.a. Ol’ Dirty Bastard, whose impressive mic skills and outrageous showmanship were eclipsed by his erratic offstage behavior, assorted arrests, and an early death. Joaquín Baca-Asay, the cinematographer on We Own the Night, Roger Dodger and Jay-Z‘s video for 99 Problems, is also joining the project, making his feature directorial debut. The movie is based on the final years of ODB’s life — a true story that is nonetheless stranger than fiction. (Entertainment Weekly)

Over the fall, Wu-Tang leader RZA spoke on comedians Eddie Griffin and Tracy Morgan squaring off to take on the role of ODB in a movie project.

“Eddie Griffin is down” he said. “Me and Eddie talked about it, laughed about it. Tracy Morgan, he wanna do it [too]. I said ‘Ya’ll both kinda can do it.” Asked who had an edge, the Wu-Tang Clan leader hinted at Griifin. “Eddie spent time with Dirty,” he shared. “They knew each other well.” The ODB movie has apparently been in the works for some time now, with Raeshawn, another cousin of the wild and crazy rapper, penning the script. “He’s been working on it for two years now,” RZA confirmed. “[In fact] I think Eddie’s already signed on with a letter of Intent–I signed on, of course. So you know [Raeshawn] got my blessin’ to make it happen.” (XXL Mag)

Back in 2010, the Wu’s Raekwon spoke to SOHH about his days around ODB.

“I think at the end of the day, all of the great times I had with him when he was alive, it was something about just being around him. One thing I can always say about ODB is he would give everybody around him drama, but when it came to me, it was different. I could be around him and tell him, “Yo, you’re wilding,” or “Yo, n*gga, you doing something that you’re not really supposed to be doing.” He always knew I was one of the individuals that was always gonna keep it funky with him. Me and him would laugh about it because he’d say, “Yo, Raekwon, I can’t even get at you but all them other n*ggas.” It wasn’t really so much the other n*ggas, but he would be able to put them out real quick and he never came at me like that, so, I would just say what was missing was the times.” (SOHH Guest Star)

Serena the Rapper…

Less than a year after a leaked video of  her questionable dancing in what appears to be Drake‘s Miami condo, Tennis superstar Serena Williams may have been taking notes from her former YMCMB boyfriend as a new hip-hop song from her has surfaced online.

The track, which currently remains untitled, leaked across the Internet Friday morning (May 11).

Serena Williams has proven over the years that she can be many things outside of a world-class tennis professional. She’s become a nail technician, a fashionista, an actress and now she’s also MC Sizzle. OK, that’s not her real rapper identity, but that’s what I shall call her from this point forward. TMZ bought obtained a demo of a rap song from Serena Williams and apparently the one-time girlfriend of rapper Common and alleged girlfriend of rapper Drake has got some ability with verbal jousting herself. (Orlando Sentinel)

On the record, Williams is heard flaunting and boasting about her skills.

A sample of what you’re in for: “I ball hard no tennis racket/I can’t see these haters through my Gucci glasses/I make hits like batting practice–they be like Serena, is you really rapping?” Our question exactly. Serena has nothing prolific to offer on her track, but she’s not terrible and we assume that she was simply doing this for fun, in which case…go on girl. (RapFix)

Last year, reports of Williams and New York’s DJ Clue hooking up emerged.

Tennis superstar Serena Williams doubles as a fashion designer, spokeswoman, and part owner of the Miami Dolphins — but now TMZ has learned she’s adding RAPPER to her resumé. We’re told Serena hit the studio last week to lay down a few tracks … and is working with a record label owned by Minnesota Vikings star Bryant McKinnie. During the session, we’re told Serena did some work with renowned hip-hip producer DJ Clue … and she wasn’t half-bad. (TMZ)

In 2011, Williams and Drake were spotted on numerous outings together.

Common lost! Just kidding, Com. Drake and Serena Williams only hooked up on the tennis match over the weekend. But, uh, Drizzy sure sounds like he had something else on his mind when he referenced it on Twitter late last week, huh? Just saying. (Complex)

Meek Mill Partners With Roc Nation

Maybach Music Group protege Meek Mill continues to make headlines this week by officially inking a deal with Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation management company.

Breaking the news through Young Hov’s Life + Times website, Meek explained his motivation for teaming up with the Roc.

“That’s the new deal I put together,” Meek said in an interview. “Me coming up in this rap game, I was always an underground artist coming up by myself and making all of the moves by myself. And my manager – he’s just like me, we’ve been coming up in the streets by ourselves. So we just decided to partner up with Roc Nation and take things to another level.” (Life + Times)

He also reflected on the value of being associated with both Rick Ross‘ record label and Jay’s management team.

“I think it’s going to take me to the next level. I’ve got Warner Bros. behind me, Maybach Music Group, and Roc Nation; some of the most powerful people in the game. That’s like 80 percent of the game right there. You know, Ca$h Money, they like family. So it’s like you’ve got everyone on your team at one time, and it feels good to have all that behind you at once. It’s like a force that can’t be stopped.” (Life + Times)

The news also comes just days after he received a luxury Range Rover for his 25th birthday courtesy of the “Boss.”

Check out some footage we got while in the City of Brotherly Love waiting to board the yacht where Meek Mill’s 25th birthday party was held this weekend. After trying to get word from the Maybach boss Rick Ross about his new single, we captured a candid moment after Ross presented his new artist keys to a brand new Range Rover. Shout out to no mileage! (The LIFE Files)

Meek received ample birthday love from rappers including Juelz Santana and Atlanta’s own, DJ Drama during his celebration last weekend.

Rick Ross, Wale, French Montana, Juelz Santana, DJ Drama, Philadelphia 76ers basketball player Lou Williams and a host of family and friends were all on hand to wish Philly’s rap wonderkid well on his milestone. “I had to come home to support the big homey — I mean, the young boy, my young boy,” Philly native DJ Drama said. “I’m proud of him — celebrating his birthday, big mixtape in the streets, announces his album date. He’s really putting on for Philly.” (MTV)
